Three more TP schemes, new bypass for Sanand

    The Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) has announced three more town planning schemes in Sanand. It also plans to lay a 12.5-km bypass, work on which will begin soon.
    The development body had earlier announced five TP schemes. TP 1, 2 and 5 were residential zones while TP 3 and 4 were industrial zones. In a recent meeting, AUDA officials decided to open TP 6, 7 and 8 in Sanand’s agriculture zone. 
    “Considering the growth of commercial and residential schemes 
around the proposed bypass, AUDA will develop the three new TP schemes as residential zone-1,” said a senior official on conditions of anonymity. 
    The official added, “The four-lane bypass — from Gibpura village to Iyava village — will be 300-foot wide and have service lanes. It will be built in ‘C’ shape.” 
    Sanand has witnessed huge industrial and commercial development in last one year. Realtors attribute the growth to the establishment of Tata’s Nano plant. This has attracted several small- and mid-size ancillary companies to Sanand, giving rise to real estate development. 
    Developers from Ahmedabad like B-Safal Group, Popular Group and 
many others have launched or are planning to launch residential schemes here for the middle-income group. The houses cost between Rs 20 lakh to Rs 30 lakh. 
    Taking into account the increased flow of traffic on Sanand highway due to rising population, AUDA planned the four-lane bypass. To deduct land for the bypass and other infrastructure facilities, AUDA met villagers twice. It will hold two more meetings before finalising the details. After conducting the final survey, the development authority will submit a feasibility report. The development of the project will then be handed over to the Road and Building Department.

Ahmedabad: The Moser Baer group is scouting for a location along Gujarat’s coastline to set up a 4000 MW coalbased thermal power plant. 
    “We have recently inked agreement with Gujarat government to invest Rs 20,000 crore over a period of time. Our experts are closely working with the state industries department to identify location, which is ideal for importing coal. The site might be near some of the existing ports. We may also build our own jetty,” said Ratul Puri, chairman of Moser Baer Projects. 
    The company is also setting up coal-based thermal power plants in Madhya Pradesh (2500 MW) and Chhatisgarh (1320 MW) besides a 550MW hydro power project in Himachal Pradesh. 
    When contacted, sources in the state industries department said that they had suggested sites near Mundra in Kutch, near Veraval and Kodinar in Junagadh district and also near Pipavav port. 
    Meanwhile, Moser Baer 
Clean Energy Ltd (MBCEL), a group company is commissioning Asia’s largest solar farm in Banaskantha on Friday. The 30MW solar farm has been set up with an investment of Rs 465 crore. 
    The project awarded under Gujarat Solar Power policy on 300 acres, will be inaugurated by Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi. The company is also setting up two more solar power plants in Gujarat in Porbandar (15 MW) and at Odu near Surendranagar (50MW). 
    The company plans to raise $600 million from investors including The Blackstone Group, International Finance Corporation (IFC), IFCI Ltd and Macquarie Group to fund energy related projects.
