No hike in AMC property tax for next five years

Ahmedabad: The AMC revenue committee has decided not to hike property tax rates for Ahmedabad for the next five years, while the town planning committee would not charge residents of Naroda-Kotarpur any development charges based on the present jantri rates.
These charges are normally levied when a private owner occupy 40 per cent land which by law should go to AMC for developing civic services.
The AMC revenue committee resolved not to hike a single rupee in property taxes for the next five years. The tax rate will remain Rs 10 for residential and Rs 22 for commercial properties.
The committee resolution will be placed before the standing committee for approval on Thursday and then later in the fortnightly general board before it is sent to the state government for approval.
On the other hand the TP committee of AMC decided that it would not charge any development fees with respect to areas that fall within TP-98 involving Naroda and Kotarpur areas in the city.
